St Enodoc Golf Course
Designed by the legendary James Braid, St Enodoc is seaside golf the way it used to be!
In the old-fashion tradition, the course has numerous blind shots - which will test even the best players.
Don't expect to come here and take this course apart - even if you happen to be Tiger Woods!
St Enodoc takes time to get to know. Patience is essential!
A well planned and carefully executed campaign is the only way to achieve a decent score.
Hit your tee-shot into the wrong spot and you could find yourself playing your second from
a neck-high lie, over a series of towering dunes to a blind green - if you're lucky!
You can't overpower this course, you must play it the way James Braid intended - with patience and skill.
St Enodoc can frustrate you to the point of madness - but what a fabulous place to lose your mind!
On a summer's evening, with the sun setting in the bay, and the humps and hollows casting shadows over
the course, it's hard to imagine a more beautiful setting for a golf course anywhere in the world.
And when you get it right, you feel like a king!

Sir John Betjeman, English Poet Laureate,
played golf at his beloved
St Enodoc all the time.
And he must have got it right at least once
- because he wrote a poem about it!

Seaside Golf
How straight it flew, how long it flew,
It clear'd the rutty track
And soaring, disappeared from view
Beyond the bunker's back -
A glorious, sailing, bounding drive
That made me glad I was alive.

And down the fairway, far along
It glowed a lonely white;
I played an iron sure and strong
And clipp'd it out of sight,
And spite of grassy banks between
I knew I'd find it on the green.

And so I did. It lay content
Two paces from the pin;
A steady putt and then it went
Oh, most surely in.
The very turf rejoiced to see
That quite unprecedented three.

Ah! Seaweed smells from sandy caves
And thyme and mist in whiffs,
In-coming tide, Atlantic waves
Slapping the sunny cliffs,
Lark song and sea sounds in the air
And splendour, splendour everywhere.
