The walking around Bude is spectacular. And, unusual for North Cornwall, the coast path around Bude is easy to moderate. There is also picturesque and very easy walking along the beautiful Bude Canal. There are also several dedicated cycle-paths around Bude. You can fish in the Bude Canal, or the small rocky coves at the ends of the beaches. Bird-watchers will love Bude Marsh Nature Reserve - with its own hides.

Summerleaze Beach is perfect!
It can be surfed at all stages of the tide.
It is patrolled by lifeguards in summer.
Miles of soft sand, not too many people, and plenty of parking space. Spend the morning building sand
castles, splashing about in the Atlantic, crabbing in the rock-pools, or larking around in the saltwater
swimming pool - the tide refills it every day, so it's always clean!
Then treat yourselves to lunch at the best beach cafe in Cornwall Life's a Beach! on Summerleaze Beach.
Buy your kids a portion of "Loaded Chips" - and watch their little faces light up!
Crooklets Beach
A short stroll from Summerleaze Beach, across the Downs or along the promenade above the sea pool, and you
willfind yourself at Crooklets - Bude's other magnificent beach.
At low tide you can walk from Summerleaze to Crooklets along the sand,
but when the tide is in, they are separated by rocks.
Although the two beaches are side by side, they are very different in character.
Summerleaze is the tourist-friendly beach, and Crooklets is where the locals hang out - especially the local youth.
Generally speaking, teenagers prefer Crooklets, and families prefer Summerleaze.
Both beaches are very safe.
Summerleaze surfs well at all stages of the tide. The surf is also good at Crooklets - but the break can get
ragged during very high tides.
There are several other great beaches in the Bude area....
