The Minack Theatre.
The Minack was one woman's dream. And she made it happen. Miss Rowena Cade, who lived at Minack Cottage, started
building this theatre by the sea in 1929. She toiled at it for the rest of her life - doing most of the work herself. She created
something that all of Britain should be proud of. It is a magnificent achievement.
Rowena Cade died in 1986 at the age of 89.
No visit to west Cornwall is complete without a visit to The Minack.

Penzance
Penzance is located in beautiful Mount's Bay - overlooking the stunning island of St. Michael's Mount.
Penzance is Cornwall's most westerly borough - just 10 miles from Land's End.
This is a land of ancient Celtic history and outstanding natural beauty.
In this part of Cornwall you will find towering cliffs, secret coves, sandy beaches, mystical moors, and ancient tors.

In days gone by this was a land of smugglers and pirates.
Today it is a paradise for surfers, for family adventures, for romantic getaways, and for simply relaxing.

Penzance town is filled with historic buildings, including several excellent pubs.
Treat yourself to a pint and soak up the atmosphere! You can feel the history of smuggling and piracy here!

Mounts Bay is considered by many to be the most beautiful bay in the world.
A must visit is St Michaels Mount - you can walk there across a causeway at low tide - a great adventure for the kids!

Newlyn
Newlyn, just to the west of Penzance, is a fascinating village - and a must visit.
Newlyn has two major claims to fame - its fishing fleet, and its thriving arts scene.

Everything in Newlyn is centred on the harbour.
The fishing fleet here is the biggest in southern Britain, and it makes a vital contribution to the economy.
Here you can watch the fishing boats unloading their catch - fascinating stuff!

Newlyn is also a hotbed of talented artists and sculptors.
There are some superb galleries here - well worth a visit!

Beaches
There are some superb beaches in the Penzance area - from tiny secret coves to vast surfing beaches.
Our own particular favourites are: Prussia Cove, Lamorna, Porthcurno, and Sennen Cove.
