| Perranporth is a classic Cornish links of the highest quality. Designed by the legendary James Braid, this course is definitely one of Britain's best. As with many James Braid courses, Perranporth has its share of blind shots. There are some very tough holes here - my favourite is the par 5 second. Fools and gorillas may be tempted to treat it as a par four - it's certainly reachable. But get it wrong and your round could be over before it has really begun! The ghost of James Braid has a vast choice of golf courses to wander, but I bet he spends a fair portion of his time beside the second green at Perranporth - laughing at the idiots who dared to treat it as a long par four! The entire course is a genuine challenge, and must be treated with respect. Sloping lies, huge mounds, impossible rough, and scary-fast greens all add to the "fun"! You'll need skill, nerve and patience (there's no such thing as a bad bounce in golf) - to post a respectable score at Perranporth. But if you pull it off - you will wonderful! The Perranporth Golf Club is as welcoming and friendly as you will find anywhere. |
