| Interview With The Vampire. Journalist (Christian Slater) interviews vampire (Brad Pitt). Pitt's story begins one eerie night in New Orleans, when he is attacked by a vampire. The vampire, Lestat (Tom Cruise) is bored with his own immortal company and he craves a companion and friend. So instead of simply killing Pitt, he offers him the chance to "Drink from me and live forever." Pitt chooses to survive. But it is a decision he comes to regret. The saga spans centuries and crosses continents - but in all that time, Pitt never comes to terms with being a vampire. He is not a natural killer - he has the ability but not the desire. And the hedonistic vampire existence is never enough for him. He seeks a deeper understanding - a purpose, a meaning - something more than just partying and killing. If there is such a thing - he is a vampire with a soul. This is the most "Traditional" vampire movie of the modern era.
