| Near Dark |
| Country boy, Caleb, meets a beautiful girl, Mae in a service station. They click instantly and spend the night together. As things between them start to get physical, Mae bites Caleb. She is a vampire and is planning to feed on him, but at the last moment she changes her mind - she can't bring herself to kill him. She runs off into the night. Caleb, puzzled but not badly injured, starts to make his way home - but his car breaks down, forcing him to walk. As the sun rises, Caleb's skin starts to blister and char. By allowing him to live, Mae has turned him into a vampire. Just at the point where Caleb is about to burst into flames, a camper-van pulls up and he is dragged inside by Mae and her family of vampires. The members of Mae's family are angry - she should have killed him. But now that he is one of their own kind, they decide to give him a chance to prove himself as a worthy vampire - a cold-blooded, merciless killer. Caleb, however, is unwilling to kill, despite his growing thirst for blood. He wants to go back to being human, and he wants to take Mae with him. The vampires tell him that this is not an option - that they will kill him if he tries. And Mae tells him that, sadly for both of them, there is no way back. |
