| Comanches raid a homestead, killing a family and abducting two young girls. Ethan (John Wayne) sets out to pursue the Comanches and rescue the girls. He soon finds the raped and murdered body of the older girl, Lucy. Desperate now, he steps up the search for the younger girl, Debbie - but the trail goes cold. Ethan refuses to give up. He searches for years, during which time, Debbie grows into adolescence and marries one of her captors, a warrior named Scar (Henry Brandon). When Ethan finds out what has happened, he no longer wants to rescue Debbie - he wants to kill her. She is defiled in his eyes, and no longer deserves to live. This is not exactly the John Wayne we expect. He is cold and callous. He is relentless, ruthless and narrow-minded. When he decides to kill Debbie, he sends shudders down your spine.
