Step back in time at Charlestown - St Austell.

The exhibitions here depict village life in Charlestown,  a place with a long
history of shipwrecks, smuggling and the China Clay industry.

You may get a strange feeling that you have been here before, because
Charlestown has been used in historical films and TV series.

If you like sailing ships and all things maritime, you'll find plenty to interest you
here - some gorgeous old square-riggers in the harbour.
And The Shipwreck and Heritage Centre is full of fascinating displays.

Charlestown is not the most exciting place on the planet - but it is well worth a
visit, especially if you are interested in maritime history.
