Newquay Zoo is a nice, well organised and enthusiastically run zoo. It is the ideal size - there is enough here to entertain a family for a full day, but you can get around it in half a day if you want to. Feeding times and keeper-talks are especially popular, and they are staggered through the day, so you don't have to miss any of them. The Tropical House has snakes, creepy-crawlies, and exotic birds. There is a small rain-forest with free flying birds, and an Amphibian Room with the world's most colourful frogs, toads, and salamanders. The Madagascar Walkthrough is home to parrots, narrow striped mongoose, Madagascan lovebirds and crowned lemurs. There is a wildlife at night exhibit, a village farm - where children can meet the animals up-close and personal, and a native-species room where you can learn about wildlife here in the UK. There are 3 places to eat here - Cafe Lemur, The Barbecue, and Tippy's Snack bar. You can also bring your own picnic. Newquay Zoo also has an excellent shop - selling a huge range of amazing Fair Trade and ethical gifts that cannot be found on the high street. All profits go to charities around the world - so check it out. Newquay Zoo is located in the Trenance Leisure Park, where you will also find the excellent water park -Waterworld, as well as a crazy golf course, a pitch and putt, a skate park, a mini railway line, and a boating lake. Something for everyone and a great place to spend a day or two during your holiday in Newquay. |
