A trip to St Michael's Mount near Penzance, can be a lot of fun - if the weather is right. This beautiful island has an interesting history, and offers some of the best views you will ever have in Cornwall. At low tide you can walk to the island - across the cobbled causeway. And when the tide is in, you can get there on the motor-boat ferry. Park in the Marazion car park and cross the beach to the causeway. Or find the motor-boat at the end of the small pier. When you get to the island, you can visit the castle, and the lovely sub-tropical gardens. There is also a cafe, a restaurant, and shops. There is no transport on the island - and the cobbled paths are steep. But if you are in reasonable health, it is worth the effort! |
