Doubtless Bay
Doubtless Bay has some truly fabulous beaches - but more importantly, it is a place of major importance in Maori
culture and history.
It is here that the legendary Kupe - the man who discovered New Zealand,
made landfall after an epic and heroic Pacific voyage.
It is said that Kupe's wife was the person who first named this country
"Aotearoa" which is usually translated as "The Land of The Long White Cloud."
