Val d’Isere is a vast ski area, the second oldest in France after Chamonix. Val d’Isere is renowned as one of the top ski resorts in the world, situated at 1850m it is one of the ski resorts of the Espace Killy ski area – 300kms of piste. The village of Val d’Isere dates back to the 13th century and has a unique atmosphere. The snow conditions in Val d’Isere are excellent, the facilities are first rate, the skiing is some of the best in the world, the views breathtaking and the apres ski is extremely lively and goes on very late!
There are good ski schools in Val d’Isere and free lifts for beginners on the nursery slopes in the the village. Val d’Isere offers a vast choice of skiing for intermediate skiers and the Espace Killy offers miles of wide, tree lined pistes building up to some more challenging red runs, the longest run is 10kms.
Most competent skiers will be able to ski between Val d’Isere and Tignes in a day. Val d’Isere has excellent skiing for advanced skiers, steep challenging runs or huge moguls and amazing off piste runs to be experienced. And for he who dares - there is the 1992 Olympic downhill ski run to try out.
Cross country skiers will find approx 45kms of trails across this ski region. There is also a snowboard park, a half pipe and miles of pisted and off piste terrain for boarders to enjoy.
