Crackington Haven Crackington Haven is an absolute joy! The beach is wonderful - especially at low tide. Lifeguards patrol here in summer. The surfing is superb - Surfboards, bodyboards and wet-suits for hire. There are two beach cafes and the Coombe Barton pub - right beside the beach. The pub attracts a mixed crowd of locals and tourists, and is a friendly place to enjoy a pint. Plus there is a large family room where children can play without irritating the grown-ups in the main bar. The food here is pretty good, but the locals rarely eat here because prices are too high.
Crackington is a fabulous place for spotting seals on the rocks just offshore, and in early summer the basking sharks arrive. These gentle giants eat only plankton - so they are no threat to swimmers, and they have to be seen to be believed! Can you imagine a fish as big as a bus!
