The Hartland Peninsula is truly spectacular! Nowhere in Devon has coastal scenery to rival Hartland. This is fabulous walking country - but only if you're fit! Hartland can only be glimpsed by the less active - there are very few roads here. Hartland Village is accessible by car, but for the best views without the effort - drive to Hartland Quay. Also well worth a visit is Hartland Abbey (walking boots not required!) Hartland Forest has some nice walks, and a pretty good golf & country club. Clovelly is well known for its steep (almost vertical) cobbled streets, and its resident donkeys. The streets are too narrow for cars - so the donkeys do all the donkey-work here! Clovelly has quaint houses, some nice shops and some good places to eat and drink. Clovelly Harbour is a picture - and the walk to get to it is downhill all the way! And you can make the return journey by the land-rover service - or on the back of a donkey! |
